Puhinui Station by Jasmax

Opened in July 2021, the $69 million Puhinui Station Interchange in Papatoetoe turned a small suburban rail stop into one of South Auckland’s major bus and train hubs. An elevated concourse links the rail platforms with a new bus and drop-off area, so passengers can move between trains and the electric AirportLink bus to Auckland Airport, a 10–12 minute ride, in a bright, secure and fully sheltered space. The station also has room for additional platforms and a future rapid transit bridge.

Jasmax treated the interchange as a civic building, and glassfibre reinforced concrete was used inside and out to match that ambition. Around 600 m² of Rieder GRC Öko Skin in Liquid Black, fixed with undercut anchors, gives the station a durable, low-maintenance finish and a strong architectural identity.
